Even though Alfred has been orphaned, he has family in his aunts and cousins, and also in his boss, coach and best friend. Lipsyte tries to tackle a lot of different issues in this book, and some of them contendwr better than others. My least favorite character lpsyte the book was Major, Major was the antagonist of the story, he was always trying to fight Alfred and he was the leader of the bad group the thiefs, punks, and potheads.
